A Legacy of Love That Lives On
Granny's gentle hands, always ready to help and heal
Granny was more than a grandmother – she was a beacon of unconditional love, a testament to the power of compassion, and a living example of how one person's kindness can ripple through generations. Her life was woven with threads of generosity, each act of giving creating a tapestry of love that continues to warm hearts today.
Coming from a family deeply rooted in the floral business, Granny understood that beauty wasn't just in the blooms themselves, but in the act of giving them. She knew that stargazer lilies reached toward heaven with hope, blue carnations whispered of pure love, and yellow roses carried the warmth of true friendship. These weren't just flowers to her – they were messengers of the heart.
Throughout her life, Granny quietly helped countless neighbors, friends, and strangers. She saw needs before they were spoken, understood struggles without explanation, and gave without expecting anything in return. Her weathered hands, though frail in her later years, never stopped reaching out to help others.
When Granny passed, she left behind more than memories – she left a mission. Her granddaughter Tawnya, inspired by a lifetime of watching Granny's selfless love in action, knew that this legacy couldn't end. The elderly and disabled in our community still needed help, still deserved dignity, still required the kind of care that Granny had always provided.
Shalom!
My name is Tawnya Taylor. I was born and raised here in Carlsbad, New Mexico. My family settled here in the very early 1900's, five generations ago. My roots run deep here as does my love for this community! My Granny, of 93 years young, passed away two years ago and the years and months before her passing were met with one challenge after another! These challenges were a brutal awakening to a severely broken system. Granny would say "it's time to do some mending" and that is exactly what I intend to do, prayerfully with your help!
I am starting a non-profit organization called "Granny's House". It's slow going but I'm hoping by the end of the year I can get it up and running. It will operate out of a storage building. It is a need based Elderly and Disabled charity.
Everything will be given away. No charge to anyone! I want this to eventually become a central hub for the elderly and disabled to find things they need as well as accessing information to other resources that could benefit them, of that they may not be aware.
Yahuah put this on my heart a few years back. I thought I had a possible building to work it from a couple of years ago but it was not His Timing. I believe now it is time. It will start small but I have big expectations.
I have watched so many in their advanced years go without due to lack of funds for necessities and lack of knowledge of resources. Even the resources I found for my Granny, did little to nothing for her and took too long to go into effect. People are suffering. I feel like this is a huge gap in our society that is overlooked. I want to help fill that gap.
I know most of these goals will take some time to achieve but I believe through Prayer and Faith in our Heavenly Father anything is possible! His Will be done.
Shalom and Blessings,
Tawnya Taylor
"I remember watching Granny's eyes light up when she could help someone. It wasn't about the gift itself – it was about showing them they mattered, that someone cared. That's what Granny's House is really about."
- Tawnya, Founder
The logo concept for Granny's House captures this spirit perfectly: two frail elderly hands passing a weathered basket filled with needed items to slightly younger hands, with ivory ribbons flowing from the basket. It represents the continuous cycle of giving, the passing of love from one generation to the next, and the beauty found in caring for one another.
As Granny's House grows, we envision expanding our services to include:
Our mission is rooted in Yahweh's Word, which calls us to honor and serve our elders with love and compassion.
"You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your Elohim: I am Yahweh."
"And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'"
"But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just."
"Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails."
"The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, If it is found in the way of righteousness."
Through Granny's House, we strive to be Yahweh's hands and feet, bringing His love and care to those who have given so much throughout their lives. Every act of service is an act of worship.
Just as Josephine knew her neighbors by name, we focus on serving our local community. Every item is personally delivered, ensuring that help comes with a human touch and Yahweh's blessing.
Items are marked with our logo so families know to return them when no longer needed. This creates a beautiful cycle where one person's blessing becomes another's hope.
Today, Granny's House stands as a testament to Josephine's love and one family's commitment to keeping that love alive through Yahweh's grace. Every wheelchair delivered, every hospital bed provided, every act of kindness performed is another petal in the bouquet of her legacy - a fragrant offering to Yahweh.
